“One Of The Toughest Decisions I’ve Ever Had To Make”: Angie Martinez Resigns From Hot 97 To Work For Rival Station 105.1

After 20+ years of bringing news and entertainment to those NYC airwaves, Angie Martinez announced her resignation from Hot 97 yesterday. Yesterday it was unclear why Angie was resigning but this morning Angela Yee, DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God announced that Angie will be joining the 105.1 family. Which comes as a huge surprise being that the two stations are huge rivals in the city of New York.

The legendary radio jockey made the announcement via Instagram when she posted the following:

Life has to move forward. Everything has its time and everything ends.

Today I resigned from HOT97. I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life. We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever. This was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways. Saying goodbye is always emotional and bitter sweet but I am extremely excited about the future. Thank you HOT97 and most importantly….the listeners… for an unimaginable journey. Today will be my last show ❤️ stay tuned…. Love, angie

Yesterday made Angie’s last show. Hot 97 sent well wishes to Angie and had this to say about her:

She exemplified professionalism and passion for the music. We thank her deeply for her commitment to hip hop, radio and broadcasting.

You can catch Angie from 2-6 pm on 105.1 in NY and on 103.5 in Miami. We wish you the best Ang!
